ArtyA’s ‘Son of Earth Collection’ : GTE revelation
Yvan Arpa is not your typical Swiss watch designer. Nor is his brand ArtyA. Crazy, innovative, atypical, brave, different and unique watches are its niche.
With a mindset different from its competitors, ArtyA became the first brand to marry high end watchmaking and contemporary art.
Yvan and his artist wife Dominique often draw their limitless inspiration from nature. By creating a new GTE 2013 collection - containing the most beautiful and purest colors that Earth has to offer - the ‘Son of Earth Collection’ is born.
It embodies pieces featuring natural pigments from the worlds’ most extravagant and exotic places and animals.
Why not create pigments from the smooth texture of limestone? Or combine the intense pink pigments of thousands of crushed Murex-shells with gold leaves?
The delicate treatment to turn these materials into a high quality pigment - and later on transformed into unique artwork dials - is done entirely by hand.
Dominique Arpa-Cirpka uses many different techniques in order to get incredible and unique layouts every time and for each individual watch.
The ‘Son of Earth Collection’ as well as the novelties in the ‘Son of a Gun Collection’ (containing real bullets), can be seen at the Geneva Time Exhibition from the 20th until the 24th of January 2013.
